The world used to have the sun shine in the Fields or through windows and on humans faces, and werewolves. But in year 2012 the world went dark and this was the era that the creatures of the night came from the humans nightmares and waged a war to rule the planet bringing it deeper into hell. The creatures lurked from the shadows to over power the humans and they succeeded to the point were humans were almost extinct. The humans were driven from power when the demons crawled out of hell and unto the surface and the creatures that humans never would have thought to exist came out and proved they did. By killing humans so much so they cannot regain control, and if a human was allowed to live it was mostly for a pet or a refrigerator. Humans were hunted down for the rich blood under there skin, only when they were almost extinct did the vampires and werewolves allow them to repopulate so it can happen all over again.
At the time of this humans were endangered animals and so the creatures now fought each other for who would rule the planet and control what was happening. So they fought for years while the world was becoming more like a living hell so now in the year of 2134 the fighting still continues but has died down allot because all the sides were beginning to realize that all the fighting will lead to all forms of life to die. They still want to rule the planet but the different species that don't want to fight in the war for fear of extinction are now trying to live together in peace and harmony in the most part. There are still those who wish to live in the past ways and hate what is happening in the world now. The humans are slowly coming back into the populous but are more hesitant into coming back for fear that the past will repeat itself.
Most of the city lies in ruins and there are few times when there will be no fighting anywhere in the huge city of new york but those do not last very long. the only rules for this new world lies within your own species and the leader of the coven/camp/pack/business makes the rules that they have to follow in order to keep the fighting minimal. Anything can happen in this world but it still is realistic and not mythical there will be a few cases of an extraordinary being that is unlike any other but they have to hide because there are always people who think they are unnatural and hunt them down. Where they got is up to them but there are few people tolerant of these being so they get to live a while longer under little protection as long as they do what they are told. But they can hide amongst the humans if they are careful to stay out of suspicion of the humans in order to hide from what is going on in the world.
